OPPURTUNITIES OF TECHNOLOGY.

The use of technology within innovative marketing would benefit Shu Uemura greatly in terms of increasing its market share, as it would create a buzz around the brand and raise brand awareness.

As discussed in Macro Trends (section number), the use of technology in retail is vital “to heighten shopper experience and connect your customers.” (dynamicbusiness,2009:online) When visiting the ShowSTUDIO exhibiton in London, the observational research we collected reinforced the idea of how interactive technology can engage consumers by communicating an idea through methods such as videos and the internet. Through our research, we have realised there are a number of innovative ways L’Oreal could promote the Shu Uemura brand to increase its market share, especially by focusing on the use of the internet. The internet is an inexpensive, feasible way to market, with blogs and promotional videos being ways that would fit to Shu Uemura’s current brand advertising. Their tutorial videos are already popular with consumers, and this way of promotion could be developed further to increase their consumer base. Also, as the brand solely relies on receiving good reviews on their products, internet blog reviews would be an innovative way to reach out to a new consumer. We feel that Shu Uemura could incorporate technology into their marketing strategy to create a real excitement around the brand, which could then be transferred and shared on the internet as a way of promotion. This would therefore increase the market share as it would increase the number of people who know about the brand, and introduce them to Shu Uemura in a modern and interactive way without going against the brand values.
